A New PFCA Board

Greetings! We are very excited to announce that PFCA inducted a new Board at the January meeting. Each one will serve you well. They are: Jason McDermott of Colfax Rd, Deena Timar of W. Hillcrest Ave, Joe Marino of Golf Hills Rd, and Jen Stavrakos of W. Hillcrest Ave.

When we re-started the civic association in 2007 we set a goal to involve as many people as we could in order to divide the responsibilities, ensure diverse thoughts and ideas, and plan for transition. It was also very important to us to establish a well-organized group. No one wants to volunteer and wind up getting stuck with way more work than they expected! We wrote a set of by-laws that dictate Board members serve a two-year term. The by-laws also created committees for those who have a specific interest.  We hope that this "formalization" helps to keep PFCA going strong for many years to come.

We have enjoyed running the civic association - it's been our privilege. We hope you have enjoyed having the group back again. With your dues money, we have hosted Egg Hunts, Oktoberfests, a neighborhood yard sale and July 4th celebrations. We installed a "Welcome to Paddock Farms" sign and added playground equipment, picnic tables and benches. We provide free advertising to residents for their businesses in our newsletter and on our website. We maintain an ongoing dialogue with our Commissioner to ensure Paddock Farms stays safe and beautiful.

As the weather starts to get warmer we know we'll see more of you out and about. Thank you for letting us guide PFCA and thank you to Jason, Deena, Joe and Jen for taking over.

Paddock Farms is a great place to live!

Paddock Rd / Ellis Rd intersection

As you likely have noticed, new traffic flow markings were painted on the road at the intersection of Paddock Rd and Ellis Rd. According to 4th Ward Commissioner Dan Siegel, this is a trial solution to improve traffic safety.

Several of you have voiced concerns / posed questions about the road markings. There are other proposed options for this intersection that include concrete islands with poles, a traffic circle with plantings, etc. We understand that any final decision will not be made until the spring, and all options are currently up for discussion.

Please continue to check Dan’s website for updates on this issue, and feel free to email him (dansiegel@4haverford.com). You may also contact PFCA’s representative on this issue, Allison O’Brien of Paddock Rd. Her phone number is 610-446-2570, her email is alisonobrien2001@verizon.net.
