Welcome to the Weekend Paddock Farms Neighbors,

The Neighborhood Yard Sale is tomorrow, Saturday May 14th starting at 8am. There are over 30 participating households this year. To view and print a map and list, click here for a PDF file. As we have asked of our visitors to our neighborhood, please drive carefully as there will be extra cars and pedestrians during the morning. View and print a list of the participating households: PFCA yard sale 5-14-16 v2.pdf

The PFCA Board is meeting on Tuesday evening at 8pm. We’ll be discussing the date of this year’s 4th of July (largely based on survey results) and begin planning. We’ll need help planning and taking on certain tasks/responsibilities, so please join us if you are interested. If you are interested in joining us for the meeting, please email paddockfarms@gmail.com

We’re just over a month away from the Concert in Paddock Park featuring Jeffrey Gaines. Enjoy the music of a super-talented singer/songwriter in an intimate setting in your neighborhood park! Grab a blanket or lawn chair, pack a picnic and join us Saturday, June 18th at 6pm. Food, drink and treats will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Paddock Park Improvement Fund. Tickets are just $10 and children 12 and under are free. Advance tickets and more information are available online at kellymusicforlife.org/events. We need your help with promoting this concert--lawn signs advertising the concert will be made available in the week before the concert. Stay tuned for details. Be sure to also check out the other concerts featured around the township over the course of the summer.

All the best,
PFCA Board

Happy Mother's Day--updates re: yard sale, dues, park improvement committee

E-mail sent by Paddock Farms Civic Association Webmaster, Sunday, May 8th, 2016 @ 12:30pm

Hello Paddock Farms Neighbors,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers in our great neighborhood! We hope you have a great day as the sunshine makes its long-awaited return.

A few bits of news for your Sunday reading pleasure…

>>The PFCA Neighborhood-Wide Yard Sale is next Saturday, May 14th starting at 8am. If you plan to participate, please register on our website--www.paddockfarmscivic.org Payments tab--no later than Monday the 9th (the date has been extended by 1 day). Please do not send checks at this point as we cannot guarantee they will be received in time to be included in the map/flyer. The list of participating households will be posted on our website no later than Thursday. Be extra cautious driving and walking in the neighborhood on Saturday morning as there will be extra cars and pedestrians, cars not parked ideally and those not familiar with our streets. We look forward to good weather and great sales!

>>The 2016 Dues Drive ended April 30th, but you can still pay your dues on our website or by mailing a check. Contributions are down a bit from last year, if you can offer your financial support to our impactful organization, please do.

>>Responsibly recycle unused, obsolete and broken electronics: cell phones, cameras and anything with a plug (except large appliances) on Saturday, May 21st from 9am-noon. There will be a joint township drop off at Malin Road and West Chester Pike in Broomall, across from the fire station.

>>Block Captains are needed to distribute the next newsletter at the end of May. If you can help in just this instance that will be much appreciated. Email us to let us know.

>>Paddock Park Improvement Committee Update: The committee met with the Township Park Maintenance Supervisor as a means to address concerns, issues and questions regarding Paddock Park. Some of the asks included:

  1. Electricity/and or lighting in the pavilion

  2. Grading the uneven area by the pavilion

  3. Repairing/repainting play equipment

  4. Removing the border around toddler play area

  5. Removing the concrete in the ground (from the old pool) near the toddler area

  6. Grading-soil/turf replacement in the area near the picnic tables; possibly relocating tables

  7. Connecting the path behind single slide

To date they have completed or have in progress:

  1. Tree trimming but no removal

  2. Some dirt around the pavilion and near the area with the picnic tables but it does not look nearly complete

  3. Half of the border (holding the mulch in) around the toddler area is gone

  4. They have removed one piece of equipment (the boat) ostensibly to repair it

  5. In process of filling in dirt around the footing of the play equipment and filled in some holes; some concrete footing will be replaced/repaired

As a precursor to major improvements that will be guided by the committee, we asked that the community as a whole help eliminate the inappropriate use of Paddock Park--including gathering after dusk, vandalism and alcohol and drug use. Two arrests were made last Tuesday at 6:30pm for suspected illegal drug use/possession. As shocking as this can be, it is a step in the right direction to not only improve the park and neighborhood, but will hopefully positively impact the lives of those involved and the community as a whole. Please continue to report this sort of activity by calling 911 to be connected to Haverford Township Police Department.

As always, email paddockfarms@gmail.com with your ideas, comments or questions.

All the best,
PFCA Board

Last Call for Dues, Event Reminders and a very IMPORTANT NEIGHBORHOOD MESSAGE

E-mail sent by Paddock Farms Civic Association Webmaster, Friday, April 29th, 2016 @ 9:15am

Dear Paddock Farms Neighbors,

A few event reminders plus a very important message highlight this email update...

One last reminder as our 2016 Dues Drive enters its final days, ending on Saturday, April 30th. Please offer your financial support to your neighborhood organization. We need more dues-paying households as we look to maintain the full calendar of activities. Our summer celebration in Paddock Park, typically held on July 4th, is our largest event and is very dependent on funds collected from dues payments. We ask $20 for families, $10 for individual households and $5 for senior households. You can pay via PayPal on our website at paddockfarmscivic.org or you can mail a check to PFCA 101 West Eagle Road, Suite 250, Havertown PA 19083. Thank you for your support!!!

Haverford Spring Music Fest is Sunday, May 1st from NOON to 7pm on Brookline Blvd. Come out and enjoy a great variety of music, along with a wide selection of food and drink, as well as activities for the kids.

May 14th is the Neighborhood Wide Yard Sale! Be sure to register to be included on the map and list of participating households. Your $5 registration fee pays for 2 newsprint ads, updates to our signage, and printing costs. You can pay via PayPal on our website Payments tab, or send a check to our mailing address. Please register by May 8th.

+++++ IMPORTANT NEIGHBORHOOD MESSAGE +++++

TAKE BACK OUR PARK! We need to change the tone for a moment and bring your attention to a persistent problem in Paddock Park. Confirmed by many residents that live on the perimeter, Paddock Park is a hub of after dusk activities that result in vandalism not only in the park, but to properties in the vicinity of the park. Visitors to the park on the weekend are exposed to the aftermath of these destructive gatherings. Vandalism is not the only crime--evidence of underage drinking and drug use is present. While the newly formed Paddock Park Improvement Committee briefly discussed this in their first organizational meeting, the problem supersedes any “improvements.” We must take back our park. While notifying the Haverford Township Police will likely increase patrols, we are asking residents to follow the mantra heard other places--IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. THIS MEANS CALL 911. 911 is the way to get HTPD to respond to or investigate a recent or in-progress incident. 911 is not just for emergencies, it is for the reporting of illegal, destructive behavior that needs to be reported to the HTPD. We need a formal record of the incidents. You may also choose to call the HTPD Anonymous Tip Line at 610-853-9213. As always, Paddock Park is closed from dusk until dawn. Please share this message with your friends, neighbors and anyone with kids that may hangout in the park or know someone that does. This behavior will not be tolerated and the police will be encouraged to do what is within their means. Thank you for your attention, support and action given to this issue.

As always, please email us at paddockfarms@gmail.com with questions, comment or ideas.

All the best,
PFCA Board
